Access to university programming is essential for the future of Yukon learners. It is time we celebrate our northern opportunities and potential and I am proud to be a part of this exciting transition.

Investing in students today means a bright future for tomorrow. Every day, we see the positive changes UIT (The Arctic University of Norway) graduates are making in communities in the Arctic region, across Norway, and around the world.
At present, both the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defense in Norway are UIT graduates. Graduates and research results from UIT are driving forces for social, economic and environment-related development in Arctic Norway.
We are thrilled with Yukon University’s achievement as Canada’s first northern university. By focusing on three significant areas that resonate on a global level – Indigenous self-determination and governance, sustainable resource development, and climate change adaptation – YukonU graduates will be leaders in critical fields who will effect important change for communities, industries, and environments across the North, and around the world.
Anne Husebekk, Rector
